FAQs

What kinds of art gels are in this collection?

Liner gels for fine detail, solid gels in palettes and jars for colour work, metallic painting gels in silver, gold and rose gold, stamping gel for plate designs, spider gel for stretched lines, blooming gel for watercolour and marble effects, cat eye magnetic gels, and chrome and mirror gels. Plus the art extras that go with them: gem gel, foil transfer gel, 3D poke and water droplet gels, ombre pat pat gel, nail art markers and peel off latex barrier.

What is the difference between a liner gel and a spider gel?

Liner gel is richly pigmented and brushes on like paint, so it is the one for crisp fine lines and detail. Spider gel is thick and stretchy, so you pull it into threads across the nail for webs, geometric lines and abstract designs without needing a steady brush hand.

Do art gels need a top coat over them?

Most of them, yes, so the design is protected and the surface is even. There are exceptions. The mirror chrome and metallic painting gels cure tack free and are finished as they are, and the Water Droplet Art Gel should not be top coated or you will flatten the droplets.

Will the cat eye magnetic gels work over any colour underneath?

They are made to go over a cured base colour, and the shade underneath changes how the effect reads. The effect also builds with the number of layers, so two thin coats read deeper than one. Try the same bottle over black, nude and white to see the range. You will need a magnet to draw the line.

Do these cure in a normal nail lamp?

The gels do, under standard LED or UV lamps like the rest of your gels. The nail art markers and the peel off latex barrier are the exceptions, they air dry and never go near the lamp. Cure times vary between the art gels, so follow the individual product, and a couple, like the foil transfer gel, ask for at least a 36W lamp.
