What is the difference between builder gel in a bottle and hard gel?

Builder gel in a bottle brushes on straight from the bottle with a medium to thick viscosity, so it is quick for overlays and for building an apex on natural nails, and it adds real strength. Hard gel holds its shape while you sculpt but still self levels, which suits sculpting on forms, tip and overlay work, and stronger extensions.

How long will a set last?

Our Hard Gel Pro Sculpting Builder is made for four to eight weeks of retention. Wear depends as much on prep and on the client's nails as on the gel, so file, buff and dust properly before you start. Our HEMA Free Prep and Liquids collection covers the rest.

Can builder gel go straight onto natural nails?

Yes. Apply it directly to the natural nail as a non chip overlay, sculpt with forms to create an enhancement, or use it with soft gel tips for extensions.

Do these soak off?

Our Builder Gel HEMA Free and Rubber Base are designed to soak off or be infilled, which makes them gentler at removal. The jar sculpting gels are usually rebalanced and filed rather than soaked, so check the product page for the one you are using.

What cure time do they need?

Most cure in sixty seconds under LED. The jar sculpting gels, Elite Sculptor and Hard Gel Pro, are sixty seconds under LED or two minutes under UV, and the Reinforcement Gel needs one to two minutes. Always check the label, and we recommend building in thin layers and curing each one rather than one thick layer.
